What is the Author pane module?

Author Pane provides information about the author of a node, comment, or page. From core, it collects the user picture, name, join date, online status, contact link, and profile information. In addition, it gathers data from many user related contributed modules and puts it together in a modifiable template file.

What features does the computed field module offer?

• Author pane enables you to know about the author of content.
• If you have Advanced Profile Kit installed, it will make use of Author Pane automatically on the default user page variant.
• If you have Page Manager (from CTools) installed, you can add the Author Pane content pane to any page variant.

Steps to install and configure the author pane module:

1.  Download the module from http://drupal.org/project/author_pane.

2. Extract and copy the module directory to the sites/all/modules directory on your site.

3. Enable the module.

4. The author pane provides you with a block that can be configured as your needs.

. In the configuration page you configure which node types you want to assign the block to and the pages you want to display the block in.

6. After configuring the block and assigning it to a specific region you will find something like this :

Finally I can say that this module is an interesting module for displaying information about the content author, also you use many user related modules to add many information to the author pane block.
